The grants require students to demonstrate exceptional need and can be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or emergency costs that arise due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including tuition, food, housing, healthcare or childcare.

Oregon has begun initial distribution of two COVID-19 vaccines to high-priority populations. While the promise of these vaccines is great, we also know that it likely will take some time before vaccines are widely available to the general public.

On Friday, Oregon announced an upcoming two-week “pause” on social activities for several counties experiencing high rates of COVID-19 infection. Though the Pacific University community has done an excellent job of controlling the spread of COVID-19 among our students and employees, the high rates in our surrounding communities and the upcoming holiday season make diligence all the more important. Starting this week, Pacific will make proactive adjustments to follow the guidance associated with the “pause.” Because our procedures are already stringent, these adjustments should not have significant impact on campus activities.
Students and employees may be selected to participate in batch tests to proactively monitor potential community spread. Current infection rates at Pacific are low; keep following public health guidance to keep our communities safe!
Fall term plans will focus on flexibility for students, safety
Football, soccer, rowing and volleyball will be postponed. Cross country, golf and tennis will be permitted to play this fall. “We are committed to supporting our student-athletes and their experience through these challenging times,” said Pacific University Athletic Director Keith Buckley. “Our coaches and staff continue to work diligently in developing a plan to provide our student-athletes a safe and valuable experience both this fall, as well as into the winter/spring competition schedules.”
