Bevin McCarthy died Aug. 13, 2018, at age 43, after an abrupt illness. She was the assistant director of Pacific’s Center for Civic Engagement and facilitated civic engagement courses at the University from 2013 to 2018.
Joan Louise Proctor, wife of the late Freeman Proctor ’62, OD ’63, died Oct. 5, 2017, at age 85.
Evelyn Grundison, wife of Robert “Bob” Grundison OD ’57, died Feb. 5, 2018, at age 88.
Arthur “Dick” Edwards died Dec. 1, 2016, at age 100. He established the Robert A. Edwards Scholarship for Pacific’s College of Optometry in the year 2000.
Ronald Everson died Aug. 3, 2018, at age 86. He taught at Pacific’s College of Optometry for three years.
James “Jim” Currie died Aug. 25, 2018, at age 75. He was Pacific’s distinguished professor of chemistry for more than three decades before retiring.

Dr. Coyle received a 2018 Women in Optometry Theia Award of Excellence at American Academy of Optometry annual meeting.
One way the School of Pharmacy aims to build interest in its programs is to invite high school students to the Hillsboro Campus for a day. Recently, a science class from Portland's Cleveland High School paid a visit.
A retired educator and speech pathologist, Steve Dustrude '73 has invested in student success, in and out of the classroom. He's been a leader in Oregon's education system and an advocate for student support at Pacific University.
