Pacific University Optometry Professor Mari Fujimoto OD ’19 was honored with one of the 2020 Johnson & Johnson Vision Residency Awards. The George W. Mertz Contact Lens Residency Award supports post-graduate advanced training in optometric clinical care, education and research methods specific to the fields of children’s vision and contact lenses.

The Student Counseling Center (SCC) is available to support students in taking care of their mental health during these overwhelming and uncertain times. As part of mental health awareness week, Oct. 4-10, the SCC encourages students to get back to the basics by getting adequate sleep, moving your body, developing new friendships and sustaining old ones, and connecting with a meaningful community.

While Covid-19 has canceled study abroad this year, International Programs expects the program will be up and running again this time next year, barring any unforeseen setbacks. The chance to study abroad is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many students, and now is the time to start planning!

Two Family members
Hispanic and Latinx Heritage month observed annually Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 celebrates the culture and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans as well as the independence of eight Spanish-speaking countries. Students, faculty and staff are invited to take part in celebrating the diversity and achievements of the Latinx community and increasing awareness of how to promote social justice and support for this community locally.
