Hui (Team) | Hawaiʻi Outreach & Programming

Director

Janalei ChunJanalei Chun BA '89, MAT '97, is the current Director of the Hawaiʻi Outreach and Programming (HOP) Office, which was established in 2014. She is the successor of "Aunty" Edna K. Gehring, who retired from the role at the conclusion of the 2017-2018 academic year.

Originally from Hilo, Hawaiʻi, Janalei is an experienced leader with more than 28 years of experience working with students and their families. While a student at Pacific, Janalei was an active leader in NHOH. Since then, she has remained an active member of the Pacific alumni community, often attending university events with her family. She graduated from Pacific with her bachelor's degree in elementary education and master's degree in teaching.

Affectionately known on campus as "Aunty Jana," her many years of experience in Oregon's K-12 education system and knowledge of being a student from Hawaiʻi aids her incredible ability to meet the needs of prospective and current students. Aunty Jana works throughout the year to offer support to students and their families during the admissions process and throughout their duration of time at Pacific.

Student Workers

Hawaiʻi Outreach and Programming’s office workers

The Hawaiʻi Outreach and Programming’s office workers are comprised of students ranging from freshmen to seniors.

Together, these individuals help to manage the office and assist Aunty Jana with various tasks. Year-round, they communicate with students and parents and answer questions regarding HOP, NHOH, and Lūʻau.

They also collaborate with NHOH to create programs and events that coincide with the office’s mission.
