Upcoming Events | Center for Peace and Spirituality
The Pacific University Center for Peace and Spirituality (CPAS) will host a number of events this fall.
Please join our Open House on Thursday, Sept. 6 from 10 am-noon in Drake 108 (next to Campus Security).
We are hosting gatherings throughout the fall for underrepresented faith groups. All gatherings will take place in Old College Hall from 7 pm – 8:30 pm. A light dinner will be provided. Please email Rev. Dr. Chuck Currie firstname.lastname@example.org if you plan to attend (and we hope you will) so we have enough food for everyone. At these gatherings, we will discuss ways to be more supportive of different faith groups and explore starting (or re-starting) student clubs. The dates are as follows:
- Muslim Community Gathering – Sept. 12
- Buddhist Community Gathering – Sept. 19
- Jewish Community Gathering – Sept. 26
- Humanist Community Gathering – Oct. 3
- Open and Affirming (Progressive) Christian Gathering – Oct. 10
If you are part of an underrepresented faith community at Pacific University and would like a gathering planned for your community, please reach out to Dr. Currie and we will get plans in motion.
Interrupting Hate in Public Spaces Workshop – Oct. 14 (please note this workshop is limited to 40 people…students get first preference).
Todd Green Lecture on Islamophobia – Oct. 15
Dr. Todd Green is a former U.S. State Department official who worked under U.S. Secretary John Kerry to help the United States combat Islamophobia. He’ll share insights from that work and thoughts on how religious bigotry impacts U.S. elections.
Interfaith Gathering – Oct. 24
This gathering in Old College Hall from 7 pm – 8:30 pm is open to all on campus. Again, a light meal will be provided so please email Dr. Currie is you plan to attend. We will use this time to explore how all people of faith on campus can work together for the common good.
All these events are listed on the Pacific University master calendar and Facebook. Community events where Pacific University students are welcomed are often shared on our Facebook events page as well.
