The Annual VPI Research Conference
The annual VPI Research Conference provides the latest studies and results concerning optometry and vision science. This year, we are honored to have Earl Smith, Dean of the College of Optometry at University of Houston, to give a keynote speech on "Visual Regulation of Refractive Development: Implications for Myopia. We will also devote a three-hour session to the theory and practice of myopia control. We are also honored to have Dr. David Huang, David Huang, MD, PhD, Peterson Professor of Ophthalmology & Professor of Biomedical Engineering at OHSU, to give a talk on Smartphone based vision screening. In addition, we will have sessions on research in amblyopia treatment, contact len design, vision diagnositics, and visual discomfort in susutained tasks. At the VPI we specialize in understanding the viewer visual experience. We work with industrial partners to develop and test new display technologies and ophthalmic devices that augment visual functions and reduces visual discomfort. We also work with clinical practitioners to apply the newest display methods to facilitate the diagnosis, treatment, and training of patients. We invite industrial researchers, ophthalmologists, optometrists, scholars, patients, and educators to participate in our conference.
