How to Apply

Accelerated PharmD Program

The PharmD program at Pacific is a three-year program that begins with two years of didactic coursework, followed by a third year devoted entirely to advanced clinical experience. The PharmD program at Pacific University was established in 2006 and the first class graduated in 2009.  The three-year program is fully accredited by the ACPE and is designed to meet the educational requirements for graduates to take the NAPLEX and MPJE board examinations. The program prepares to students to apply for a pharmacist license, which is required for employment in a patient care setting, and is sufficient to meet licensure requirements in all 50 states to practice as a registered pharmacist.

PharmD Curriculum

The PharmD curriculum has a focus on student wellness, which is promoted via protected time — usually one afternoon each week — for students to proactively schedule personal appointments and engage in self care. We focus less on frequent high-stakes examinations and more on periodic low-stakes assessments to help alleviate stress and better contribute to an environment of learning. At Pacific, we emphasize integration of concepts, as well as teamwork and collaboration among students. We believe in quality and flexibility for our students in order to prepare them to be practice and career ready. To ensure this we redesigned our curriculum in 2020.

Pharmacy Program in Oregon

The Pacific University School of Pharmacy is located at our Hillsboro Campus, just a short drive or light-rail ride from Portland, Ore. Located in downtown Hillsboro’s Health & Education District, the campus is home to Pacific’s College of Health Professions, where PharmD students interact closely with other dedicated students focused on graduate and professional programs in healthcare fields. Students who earn their PharmD at Pacific are prepared to be patient-focused, career-ready clinicians who provide healthcare as members of an interprofessional team. In addition, the state of Oregon recognizes pharmacists as health care providers. By getting your PharmD at Pacific University in Oregon you will be prepared to practice at the top of your pharmacy licensure.

Outside of class, students enjoy the environment of the Pacific Northwest, with easy access to the Oregon Coast, Cascade Mountains and the cultural amenities of downtown Portland.
