Ethics Training | IRB

The Office of Scholarship and Sponsored Projects at Pacific University subscribes to CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) to provide all training for researchers, project personnel, and administrators in the areas of human subjects, animal, and biomedical research, as well as training in COI, Good Clinical Practices, Information Security, and Responsible Conduct of Research.

IRB Training Requirements

All members of the Pacific community engaged in human subjects research are required to demonstrate receipt of human subjects research training. Effective 2017, all researchers and administrators in need of training must complete the training through CITI.

Setting up a CITI Account or Adding Pacific to an Existing CITI Account

New Account - Provides step-by-step instructions for setting up an account.

Add Affiliation – How to add Pacific as an affiliate institution if you already have a CITI account.

You will be prompted to provide basic information about yourself, associate with Pacific University, and select areas of training. 

IRB Users – All researchers involved in human subjects research are required to complete training. CITI provides modules specific to the type of human subjects research in which you are engaged (biomedical, social & behavioral) - please choose accordingly. You will be prompted to answer questions and modules will be recommended based on your answers. IRB Users are only required to complete either the Biomedical or the Social & Behavioral modules at this time; researcher may select the best fit for themselves. (NOTE: Biomedical Research is course ID 121526 and Social & Behavioral Research is course ID 121527).

You may add training modules at any time should the need arise or the IRB require you to complete additional training.
