The Lū`au is a collaborative effort of Pacific students, including Hawaiian Club members, faculty, staff, local community members, businesses, and family members at home in Hawai’i. Many students’ parents come from the Islands a week in advance to make leis and put together decorations.
Na Haumana O Hawai‘i was founded in 1959 with 16 students. By 1962, 60 student Club members represented the eight islands of Hawaii. NHOH is open to anyone interested in learning more about the Hawaiian culture. NHOH has more than 300 members. The students actively share their Island traditions by performing at various functions both on and off the University campus.
Students from Hawaii comprise 20 percent of the student body at Pacific University. The Lū`au is presented by Na Haumana O Hawai‘i, Pacific University's Hawaiian Club. The Lū‘au is a fundraiser for NHOH activites and community service events. For more information, call 503-352-2918 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
