Fall 2018

Choral Concert
7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12

The Pacific University Concert Choir will present uplifting choral music by Felix Mendelssohn, Peter Tchaikovsky, Daniel Elder, Jake Runestad and other outstanding composers. Under the new direction of Sam Barbara and Steve Peter, the Concert Choir will split for the first time to present works for men’s and women’s choir, in addition to music for mixed chorus. Please join us for an evening of excellent choral music in a beautiful performance hall.

The Chamber Singers will perform a diverse set including a madrigal by Thomas Weelkes "Hark All Ye Lovely Saints" followed by a motet by Heinrich Schutz, "Die Himmel Erzahlen (the heavens are telling). Other works include selections from "Autumn Landscapes" by Estonian composer, Veljo Tormis, "The Peace of Wild Things" by Jake Runestad and "Unclouded Day" by Shawn Kirchner.

Jazz Nite
7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov 9

The Pacific University Jazz Band’s fall concert will feature “Four” by Miles Davis, “Besame Mucho” by Consuelo Velazquez, Gordon’ Goodwin’s funky “Crunchy Frog,” and “Wind Machine” as recorded by the Count Basie Band. Vocalist Kaitlin Gilbert will also be featured in the jazz standard, “The Lady is a Tramp.”

Symphonic Band Concert
7:30 p.m. Sat, November 17

The Pacific University Symphonic Band’s eclectic fall concert will include familiar works such as the Holst “First Suite in Eb,” “Alleluia! Laudamus Te” by the great Alfred Reed, and “Shenandoah” arranged by Frank Ticheli; as well as newer band works “Sans Souci Galop de Bravoure,” “Gesu Bambino,” and “Der Lehrmeister” by American composer Robert Sheldon.

Orchestra Concert

This will be an interdisciplinary concert that will involve music, dance, and poetry. The program is:

New World Symphony (mov. 2 & 4) by Antonin Dvorak
Sleigh Ride by Leopold Mozart
