The Pacific University Center for Gender Equity and the American Association of University Women invite girls ages 12 through 15 to a one-day conference. The Girls Today Conference is designed to empower girls by exploring topics such as positive body image, healthy relationships and self-esteem.
The conference will include an opening session, a panel about college, small group sessions facilitated by students from Pacific’s School of Graduate Psychology and Masters in Social Work students, a campus tour, and a free Girls Today T-shirt for all participants.
Registration/ Opening Session | Registration starts at 9 a.m. Come pick up your Girls Today T-shirt! Opening remarks and an optional parents meeting to learn more about Girls Today and the benefits of participating.
Panel | A panel of Pacific University students will talk about how they became college students, answer your questions about campus life, living in the dorms, and tell you what you need to be doing now to start on your pathway to college.
Small Group Discussions | You will be divided into small groups and, with the help of trained, female graduate students of psychology, will discuss positive body image and healthy relationships.
Free lunch on campus!
Activities | Go on a campus tour, and connect with students from all over the district!
Closing Session | Refreshments served. Parents welcome!
The conference will be staffed by Pacific University graduate students from the School of Graduate Psychology, Master of Social Work students, the Center for Gender Equity and the American Association of University Women.
