John W. Haines is the executive director of the Community Investment Trust with Mercy Corps Global Innovations Team. Previously, he was executive director of Mercy Corps Northwest, the domestic arm of Mercy Corps, for 15 years. He has led various finance, lending and economic development efforts in Portland, Ore., Trenton, N.J., and Prague in the Czech Republic. He is a graduate of the University of Wyoming and native of Laramie, Wyo. His first book, Never Leaving Laramie – Travels in a Restless World, was published in September 2020 by Oregon State University Press.
