Pacific University alumni writers are invited to gather together virtually for an afternoon of creativity, critique and conversation on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m.
Prior to meeting, you have the option to submit your work (five pages or less) for the group to review. Submissions will close one week before the meeting.
We will begin our gathering with introductions including who you are, what you studied while at Pacific University and where you are currently at with your writing. Whether you are a published author or a hobbyist looking to make new connections, all are welcome.
Following that conversation, we will do a short writing exercise to get everyone’s creativity flowing. Please come prepared with your favorite journal and a pen or be prepared to multitask on your computer.
In the next section of our meeting we will break out into small groups to critique and provide feedback to the pieces that were submitted in advance. Please come prepared with feedback that provides analysis on the voice, structure, characters, etc.
To wrap up our time together, conversation will be opened up to anyone who is currently stuck with something in their writing. Whether it is adding unique characteristics to a character, struggles with a plot, or thoughts of fantasy world development, this group is here for you.
The Pacific University alumni writers group strives to be a place for all writers from all backgrounds to come together and find a place of connection, learning and comradery. By joining this group, we ask that you come to it with respect and support for your fellow alumni writers.
Please register below to join us and submit your work if you would like your piece critiqued.
