Give & Go is Pacific University's end of year move-out event, co-sponsored by the MCCE, Housing, Residence Life, and Facilities Management. At the end of each school year, the Tom McCall Center for Civic Engagement invites students to donate unneeded clothing, toiletries, food, books and more as they are moving out of residence halls. The MCCE partners with nonprofit organizations in Washington and Multnomah counties to keep those items out of the landfill and get them to people in need.
Give & Go 2021 will take place between from May 6 to May 12. A single drop-off location will be open from noon to 5 p.m. daily and located in the Walter/McCormick parking lot near the quad in Lot G.
COVID-19 precautions will be in place.
Please save the date and make plans now to set aside items for donation at Give & Go instead of sending them to the landfill.
Items we can accept:
- Unopened toiletries
- Unopened, non-perishable food
- Electronics (both working and broken)
- Kitchen utensils and small appliances
- School, office and crafting supplies
- Small dorm decorations
Items we typically can not accept:
- Large furniture
- Used undergarments (bras, underwear and socks)
- Opened or perishable food
Curious why this event matters? In 2019, the MCCE collected 4,390 total donations from over 300 participants. All of these items ran the risk of entering the waste stream without the efforts of the Give & Go staff and the collaboration of all event sponsors. We deeply appreciate everyone who helps make this event possible and are thrilled we are able to return in 2021.
