Personal Hygiene

Good hygiene and safety measures are effective in reducing transmission of all kinds of respiratory and infectious illnesses, including COVID-19.

Wash your hands frequently with soap and water. When soap and water is not available, use hand sanitizer. Pacific makes hand sanitizer stations available throughout campus to encourage frequent handwashing.

If you wear a reusable/washable face mask, be sure to wash it regularly.

Stay Home When Sick

If you are not feeling well, and especially if you are experiencing symptoms of a transmissible disease (coughing, sneezing, etc.), stay home. Whether you have a cold, flu or COVID-19, your symptoms may put others at risk of illness. Make alternate arrangements for work or school, and take care of yourself until you are well.

Environmental Precautions

Pacific facilities have been assessed for air quality, and all buildings meet OSHA guidelines. Appropriate air filters are in place to circulate air safely through buildings. Please do not open exterior doors and windows to increase air flow — this actually decreases the effectiveness of filters.

Though research indicates that COVID-19 is rarely spread through surfaces, Pacific maintains a thorough cleaning protocol for campus facilities. Bathrooms are sanitized daily, and high-touch areas are cleaned frequently.

Healthcare and Support

The COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with any number of stressful and traumatic events in our region and world, has put extreme strain on people’s mental and emotional wellbeing. Please reach out for support from the wide variety of support structures for students and for employees at Pacific.
