The Reading Specialist & ESOL endorsement program is available to candidates who hold a current Initial or Continuing Teaching License endorsed for the regular classroom or special education, or who are enrolled in a pre-service program leading to an Initial Teaching License endorsed for the regular or special education classroom.

These endorsements may be obtained simultaneously through 27 semester credits of courses, including 23 semester credits of core courses and four semester practicum credits for each endorsement area. Candidates must pass the state-approved Reading Specialist and ESOL tests, as well as submit portfolios or case studies.

Candidates who earn the endorsements will be qualified to teach reading to students pre-kindergarten through grade 12 and English-language learners within the authorization level.
