Is the program accredited?

Pacific University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).

Do I need a completed bachelor’s degree to apply?

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree awarded before matriculation into the MHA program amongst many other admissions requirements.

Is a minimum GPA required to be admitted to the program?

You must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 for your cumulative GPA and the last 45 semester hours. Admission to the program is competitive, so the Admissions Committee will review applications and evaluate each candidate from a comprehensive perspective. Professional experience, reference letters, and personal essay will be evaluated and weighted equally with GPA.

Do applicants need previous healthcare or business experience?

One of the requirements for admission to the MHA program is that you must have a minimum of two years experience in healthcare or business. This can be volunteer or work experience.

How long is the MHA program?

The MHA program takes a minimum of two years to complete, six continuous semesters. However, the entire curriculum can be completed over a maximum of four years.

How many hours a day is the program?

The MHA program is designed for the working professional. The program is blended so students spend time working online and then attending classes on Friday evenings and Saturdays, alternating weekends.

When can I begin the MHA program?

Each fall semester a new cohort of 15-20 students begins the MHA program. The program only admits students once a year to start in the fall semester.

When is my application due?

Applications become available on November 1st. We admit students on a rolling admissions schedule. Please visit our How to Apply page for deadlines and additional information.

Will my coursework from another institution transfer?

The Master's of Healthcare Administration Program will consider accepting transfer credit only after an applicant has been admitted into the program, and careful review of all available information. Transfer credits will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and no more than a total of six semester credit hours will be accepted.

Transfer credits must be at the graduate level and a grade no lower than a B must have been achieved. The course instructor(s) and MHA Program Director will determine whether the content of the course (based on syllabus and course description documentation) is appropriate through review of the Transfer of Credit Application that the student must complete and submit to the MHA Program. In no case will credit be given for previous work that has not been graded or formally evaluated; therefore, courses taken on a pass/no pass basis will not be transferred.

Internships, experiential learning, and independent study courses also are not transferrable. Course prerequisites, course descriptions, and course syllabi from the previous institution, hours completed, transcripts, and other significant information will be used in making a decision, and must be attached to the Transfer of Credit Application Form when it is submitted for program review.

Is financial aid available?

Pacific's MHA program qualifies for Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) Stafford Loans, Federal Graduate Plus Loans, alternative loans from various lenders, as well as internal scholarships that students may qualify for.
