Apply to be a Resident Assistant (RA) for 2021-2022

The following information is for new applicants interested in Resident Assistant (RA) position in Residence Life for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Informational Sessions

Meet current student staff, learn more about the position(s) and selection process, and get your questions answered. Applicants are not required to attend, but in the past many have found the sessions helpful.

Application process at-a-glance

  • The online 2021-2022 New Resident Assistant Application must be submitted no later than Friday February 19, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. You are encouraged to prepare answers to essay questions (available in the information packet) prior to beginning the application. If you have difficulties accessing the online form, please be sure you are logged into your Pacific University Google account. If this does not work please contact before the deadline.
  • Each Candidate must attend "Not Your Average Interview Night 2.0” also known as “NACHO 2.0” on one of the following dates Wednesday February 24, Thursday February 25, or Friday February 26. You will be assigned to attend a portion of the time period between 6pm and 9pm. 
    • This fun and relaxed interview night will include a short virtual social with current student staff, as well as, participation in 20 minutes of virtual rotational interviews. You will need a strong internet connection to participate in this virtual event. If a strong  internet connection is a challenge for you please contact to request an alternative experience.
  • Individual interview sign-up information will be sent out around February 23, 2021. 
    • Interviews will occur sometime between Monday March 1, 2021 and Thursday March 4, 2021.
  • You will be contacted by email with hiring decisions around Monday March 15, 2021.
  •  More information about what the Residence Life Orientation for selected candidates will look like will be communicated.

Re-Apply as a Returning Residence Life Paraprofessional for 2021-2022

The following returner process is for individuals who have worked as a Paraprofessional (RA/CA) in Residence Life during the 2020-2021 academic year and wish to re-apply for one or more positions for the 2021-2022 academic year. 

Re-Application process at-a-glance

There are two sets of due dates depending on if you want to be considered for the spring 2021 Community Coordinator opening.

To be considered for the spring 2021 Community Coordinator opening, in addition to a position for the 2021-2022 academic year, your application materials and sign ups need to be completed by Monday January 4th at 5pm.

Otherwise applicants must submit the following by Monday January 18th, 2021 at 5 pm:

  • Completed Returning Paraprofessional 2021-22 Application and Essay Form
  • Sign-up for an Interview time
    • Be sure to sign up for the correct interview, Community Coordinator (green/orange*) or Returning Resident Assistant (blue).  
    • *for Spring 2021 CC consideration

    • Teaching Demonstration Presentation (Click to tell us your plan)
      • Develop a 10 minute teaching demonstration for your peers and supervisors. Find a connection between your academic field of study and a lesson that would be useful for your peers. Your demonstration must include an activity, reflection, discussion, or other interactive component.
      • Demonstrations for those being considered for Spring 2021 will occur beginning to middle of January. Schedule to be determined.
      • Demonstrations for others will occur late January or early February. Schedule to be determined.
      • Your teaching demonstration should be a maximum of 10 minutes

Hiring decisions will be communicated on or around February 1st.

All returning staff that accept their offer for hire, must attend the virtual Residence Life Orientation on a weekend day in March/April. Community Coordinators may have an additional orientation in April or May.
