Apply to be a Resident Assistant (RA) for 2020-2021

The following information is for new applicants interested in Resident Assistant (RA) position in Residence Life for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Informational Sessions

Meet current student staff, learn more about the position(s) and selection process, and get your questions answered. Applicants are not required to attend, but in the past many have found the sessions helpful.

  • Thursday February 6th 6:30pm-7:30pm Cascade 1st floor TV and Game Lounge
  • Wednesday February 12th 6:30pm-7:30pm Boxer Pause UC 216

Application process at-a-glance

  • The online 2020-2021 New Resident Assistant Application must be submitted no later than Friday, February 21, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. You are encouraged to prepare answers to essay questions (available in the information packet) prior to beginning the application. If you have difficulties accessing the online form, please be sure you are logged into your Pacific University Google account. If this does not work please contact reslife@pacificu.edu before the deadline.
  • Each Candidate must attend "Not Your Average Interview night" on Friday February 28, 2020 from 5:45p-8:30p in Burlingham Hall 108/109.
    • This fun and relaxed interview night will include a social with current student staff, as well as, participation in 30 minutes of mini rotational interviews. In addition to the mini interviews, you are required to attend at least 30 minutes of the social occurring from 5:45p-8:30p. You will be assigned a start time for your mini interviews and can attend the social before or after your assigned time.

  • Individual interview sign-up information will be sent out March 2-4 2020 
    • Interviews will occur sometime between Monday March 9th and Friday March 13th.
  • You will be contacted by email with hiring decisions around Thursday, March 19, 2020.
  • Candidates that accept their offer for hire, must attend the Residence Life Orientation on Saturday, April 4th 2020 8am-5pm off campus.

Re-Apply as a Returning Residence Life Paraprofessional for 2020-2021

The following returner process is for individuals who have worked as a Paraprofessional (RA/CA) in Residence Life during the 2019-2020 academic year and wish to re-apply for one or more positions for the 2020-2021 academic year. 

Re-Application process at-a-glance

Each returning paraprofessional applicant must submit the following by Tuesday January 21st, 2020 at 5 pm:

  • Completed Returning Paraprofessional 2020-2021 Application and Essay Form 
  • Sign-up for a Returning Paraprofessional Interview 
    • Be sure to sign up for the correct interview, Community Coordinator (green) or Returning Resident Assistant (blue).  
  • COMMUNITY COORDINATOR CANDIDATES ONLY:

    • Facilitated Learning Presentation Plan (Click to tell us your plan)
      • Develop a 10 minute presentation where you facilitate a learning experience for your peers and supervisors. Your topic must make a connection between your academic field of study and what you've learned from your work in residence life. Your presentation must include theoretical, philosophical, or research from your academic area of study. 
      • Presentations will occur Tuesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29 during mid-year training. Schedule to be determined.
      • Your facilitated learning presentation should be a maximum of 10 minutes

Hiring decisions will be communicated on or around February 3rd.

All returning staff that accept their offer for hire, must attend the Residence Life Orientation on Saturday April 4th, 2020 off campus. Community Coordinators may have an additional orientation in April or May.
