Music Periodicals Database (formerly International Index to Music Periodicals)

Music Periodicals Database (formerly International Index to Music Periodicals) is a specialized index to periodicals for the general, undergraduate, and advanced study of music and is the only electronic index with abstracts to current music periodicals. New journals are added with the advice of the IIMP Advisory Board.

The database contains over 770,000 records, with complete runs of over ten important titles, such as the Journal of the American Musicological Society and Notes. IIMP provides both current and retrospective coverage. IIMP offers the most extensive backfile available electronically, with almost 200,000 records from 1874 to 1995. Current coverage includes over 300,000 records, with complete indexing for 40 key titles, from first to last or most recent issue.

Indexed titles cover both scholarly and popular periodicals in the areas of classical music, opera, jazz, popular music and pop culture, music education, musicology, music theory, and many others. There is particularly strong coverage of performance, music education, and jazz.
