Temporary Room Information

Temporary Rooms provide students an option to have their own bedrooms space while they or their bedroom-roommate is recovering from COVID-related illness. Temporary rooms are available on a limited basis and are not available for ill students or roommates of ill students who already have their own bedrooms.

Temporary rooms require students to bring their own linens (sheets, blankets, pillows), clothing, toiletries, medications, and academic materials.

In order to gain access to a temporary room, contact the following resources depending on the day and time:

  • Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Contact the Student Affairs Office at 503-352-2200
  • Monday - Friday, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. or Saturday - Sunday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. | Contact your hall’s RA on Call
    • Burlingham, Gilbert, Vandervelden, call 971-275-2028
    • McCormick, Walter, Cascade, call 971-275-2027
  • Outside of these hours: Isolate in place until these resources are available to assist you with a temporary room.

Students’ stays in these rooms are temporary and they must return to their typical housing assignment once the end of the ill roommate’s five days of isolation or their symptoms have resolved with no fever for 24 hours. Return all temporary room keys to the Student Affairs office in Clark Hall.

In the event temporary rooms have limited availability, priority will be given to roommates who are immunocompromised, which includes: being unvaccinated, chronic lung disease, cystic fibrosis, severe asthma, chronic kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, diabetes, pregnancy, cancer, organ transplant, actively taking immunosuppressive medications, HIV, and/or primary immunodeficiency disease.
