Job Description:
The Fellowship in Pharmacy Education provides an opportunity for highly motivated and interested professionals to train in a unique and progressive academic environment. Training primarily focuses on the tripartite mission of pharmacy faculty (i.e. teaching, scholarship and service). Fellows also gain exposure to critical leadership and management issues facing the academy. The program's experiences are designed to provide new pharmacy practitioners with a solid foundation to begin an effective and productive academic career in pharmacy. The fellowship is a 12-month, post-graduate training program that begins July 1, 2013 under the supervision of the Director of Post-Graduate Training and faculty mentor. This position is granted an academic rank of Post-Graduate Instructor within the College of Health Professions and is an 11-month calendar year term appointment. Two positions are available annually.
Academic Fellow Expectations and Responsibilities (approximate percent of time)
· 35% Teaching: May include course coordination; lecturing; facilitating learning activities, assignments or projects; exam writing and grading; pharmacy practice and compounding lab facilitation; experiential education. · 35% Pharmacy Practice: Provision of direct patient care services at an ambulatory care or inpatient site. · 20% Scholarship and Continuous Professional Development: May include all forms of research and scholarship described by Boyer, including clinical practice and teaching models of study to generate publishable discovery. Time may be granted to attend professional meetings. · 10% Service: Serve on one major committee (Admissions or Curriculum) and the Fellowship Search Committee. Also includes professional organization participation and community events/activities related to the profession. Qualifications · PharmD or equivalent experience * Preference will be given to candidates who have completed residency, fellowship training, or other relevant post-graduate training · Eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Oregon is required · Excellent communication skills and an ability to work effectively as a team member in the delivery of the PharmD curriculum Benefits and Salary · $46,000 salary and University sponsored health benefits · Reduced rate public transportation pass · Personal/vacation days and University recognized holidays · Additional professional leave to attend state and national meetings may be granted · Faculty development funds may be available for attending professional meetings Application Process Review of applications for this position will begin immediately.
