Student Counseling Center: Services

COUNSELING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY:

Confidential individual, group and couples counseling are available to all Pacific University students. Concerns commonly addressed include adjustment to college or professional programs, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma (current and past), relationship concerns, academic problems, family of origin issues, identity exploration, body image, substance abuse, eating issues and stress management

CRISIS SERVICES:

Students dealing with urgent concerns may walk in during the noon hour when no appointment is needed. Students may also call or walk in throughout the day and a counselor will be available within the hour.

During regular business hours, students, faculty, and staff may contact the Counseling Center (503-352-2191) regarding student and campus emergency situations. After hours, call the Washington County Crisis Line (503-291-9111) or go to a local emergency room.

CONSULTATION AND REFERRAL:

Referrals to community resources may be made when additional services are required to meet the psychological needs of students.

SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS:

Programs focused on mental health, adjustment and developmental topics are offered to the campus community. These are designed to help students learn skills and strategies to deal with stress, school related problems, issues related to living in a diverse and multicultural world, and other personal and mental health issues.
