Mathematics and Computer Science

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Pacific University offers majors and minors in both Mathematics and Computer Science. The mathematics program is characterized by small class sizes, close interaction with the faculty, and a deep yet broad curriculum rarely encountered at a small university.

Graduates of our programs have gone on to excel in a multitude of discplines including financial mathematics, computer programming, engineering, teaching, research, and law programs.

As part of the mathematics and computer science majors, students complete senior projects. This past year, two seniors presented the results of their work at the annual meeting of the Pacific Northwest Region of the Mathematical Association of America.

Photo 1 of new space

At the beginning of 2007, the mathematics program moved into our new home on the second floor of Price Hall, the former PT building, next to Strain Hall.

This renovated space provides us with state of the art classrooms, a new computer lab, and faculty offices large enough to work with several students at a time.
