College of Optometry

In the Pacific University College of Optometry, world-renowned faculty and diverse clinical sites prepare tomorrow’s doctors of optometry.

At Pacific University, teaching is our first priority. Our optometry faculty lecture and publish worldwide, but teaching is at the center of their practice. Our programs provide a firm foundation in basic and clinical sciences, as well as significant hands-on experience in serving diverse populations of patients.

The College of Optometry operates EyeClinics and EyeTrends opticals throughout the Portland area, giving students the chance to practice their skills and serve their community. Our students also are involved in outreach locally and around the world as they prepare to serve patients anywhere their careers take them.

In addition to our doctor of optometry program, the College of Optometry offers a master of science in vision science program and residency programs in multiple specialties that prepares students for teaching or research in the ophthalmic industry.  We also partner with the College of Education to offer a Master of Education/Visual Function in Learning program designed to provide specialized study to qualify the optometrist as an education vision consultant. Our continuing education program helps optometric physicians meet their requirements for license renewal.

Mission

Pacific University College of Optometry prepares engaged learners to be highly competent practitioners, optometric leaders, and vision scientists through a diverse education while advancing professional and ethical eye care, scholarship, and service to the community.
