AHEC Scholars is a two-year national program designed to better prepare health professions students for future practice in rural and urban underserved communities.
Statewide collaboration between the Oregon AHEC Program Office, regional Centers, academic and clinical partners provides a robust interprofessional experience for learners.
Pacific University Occupational Therapy, Physician Associate and Pharmacy students participate in Oregon AHEC Scholars.
This innovative program enrolls 75 – 125 students annually from multiple universities and health professions programs within Oregon. Enrolled students have a unique opportunity to fulfill their existing degree requirements with an emphasis on exposure to underserved communities. Scholars also gain valuable experience at community-based, rural and urban-underserved practice sites and enriching didactic training focused on eight core topic areas:
