The Pacific University trustee leads Hillsboro-based PLI Systems, an industry leader and one of the fastest growing Hispanic-owned businesses in the country. He will be honored at Pacific's May Commencement at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 20.

The alumna and former faculty member was recognized May 20, 2023, at the university’s graduate and professional commencement ceremony, where she also delivered the keynote address.

Pacific University Professor Erica Kleinknecht, who teaches undergraduate psychology, has been awarded the Western Psychological Association’s Outstanding Teaching Award. The award was conferred April 28, 2023 at  the association’s annual convention in Riverside, Calif.

Spanish-speaking people who have a problem curbing their impulses to gamble may soon benefit from a more culturally customized app being developed by Leo Bobadilla, a professor in Pacific University’s Graduate School of Psychology.

Nonfiction writer Kao Kalia Yang and poet Shara McCallum, both of whom teach in Pacific University’s low-residency Master of Fine Arts in Writing program, each have been awarded 2023 Guggenheim Foundation Fellowships.

Independent Trustee Mark Truax ’09 and Undergraduate Faculty Trustee Lorely French began terms in March. Independent Trustees Gary Pacarro ’74, Heidi Nielsen ’96, Chris Tuffli ’84, Amelie Brazelton Aust, Greg Dinges and Jim Baker begin terms in May. 

DPT students, Madelyn Foulk '23, Kylee Seto '23, Isabel Lin '24, Andrea Brady '23, Mel Kakimi '24, and Associate Professor Tzurei Chen presented the research project "Identifying Balance Impairment During Transitional Movements in Individuals with Lower-Limb Loss Using Wearable Sensors" at the 2023 American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) in San Diego, Calif.

The Pacific University School of Pharmacy plans to launch a five-year on-campus pathway to a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree — the first of its kind.

Pacific University Choral Director and Professor Scott Tuomi was honored with The John C. McManus Distinguished Teacher Award in January by the Oregon Music Education Association. 

Public Health Assistant Professor Adelle Monteblanco has been recognized as one of 15 Emerging Scholars-nationally for 2023 in Diverse Issues In Higher Education. Learn more about her research, which focuses on inequality as it pertains to extreme heat and examining its health impacts on vulnerable populations.

A board-certified orthopedic physical therapist, Dr. Gerber takes the helm on July 1, 2023.
