What is your specialty as a tutor? What topic, problem, subject, or process do you most enjoy helping students to learn?

I love tutoring Organic Chemistry, and I like the puzzle-solving aspect of figuring out reaction mechanisms.

Which of the CLASS 5 Keys – Respect, Inclusion, Growth, Support, and Pizzazz - resonates with you the most and how do you put it into practice in your work as a tutor?

For me, respect is the most important thing as a tutor. A student needs to feel that they are valued in order to be comfortable sharing their questions and ideas. I think it is impossible to foster an environment with our other 4 Keys if respect is not the basis of our relationships with students, faculty, and other tutors.

What is your best advice for students on how to get the most out of their academic experience in college?

Go to office hours! It is the best way to get help if you are struggling with a topic or need any academic advice. It is a great way to build connections with your professors, and those connections will benefit your experience at Pacific as well as in your future career.
