Jennifer Pitonyak, Ph.D., OTR/L
Jenny joined the School of Occupational Therapy as Director in March 2022. She has practiced in early intervention, the neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric rehabilitation, and a variety of community settings developing mental health promotion programs for infants and families. Jenny holds American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) specialty certification in feeding, eating, and swallowing (SCFES) and is a certified infant massage instructor (CIMI). Her scholarly interests are at the intersection of mental health promotion, occupational justice, and scholarship of teaching and learning — particularly structural influences on occupation, trauma-informed environments, and inclusive pedagogy.
Jenny earned a BA in psychology from Allegheny College, an MS in occupational therapy from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and a PhD in health policy from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. She currently serves on the leadership team for the AOTA Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Mentorship Program and has numerous presentations and peer-reviewed publications on topics related to family mental health and SoTL.
