This Saturday, November 1, federal food assistance programs including SNAP and WIC will lose funding due to the ongoing government shutdown. Nearly 42 million Americans – including many in our Pacific family – will lose access to these critical benefits. Our campus food pantries – the Boxer Food Share in Forest Grove and the Hillsboro Campus Food Pantry – are ramping up efforts to help fill the gap for our students as federal benefits disappear.

The federal government shutdown is affecting funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). If the shutdown continues into November, SNAP benefits will not be issued in Oregon until federal funding resumes. This is unprecedented and the impact on our community will be significant (750,000+ Oregonians and 40 million people nationwide, including 16 million children, currently rely on food assistance through SNAP). Benefits Open Enrollment for plan year 2026 will begin on Monday November 3, and end on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025. During this time, benefit-eligible employees will be able to make desired changes to their current benefits within the Paycom HRIS system. Our Dental and disability plans have changed, so elections MUST be made this year in Paycom.
