Pacific University's College of Education, Student Affairs, and President's Office, are collaborating with Latinos in Action to bring 250-plus latinx youth from Washington County middle schools and high schools to our Forest Grove Campus for a special conference.

This full-day conference will include a keynote address from José Hernández, former NASA astronaut,  who was the first Mexican-American in space, along with small workshops, presentations, campus tours, and opportunities to explore financial aid.

A movie starring actor Michael Peña is set to be released later this year, highlighting Hernández's story from migrant farm worker to astronaut.

Latinos in Action offers an asset-based approach to bridging the graduation and opportunity gap for Latino students, working from within the educational system to create positive change. They are empowering Latino youth to lead and strengthen their communities.
