One reason I chose Pacific | One of the main reasons I chose Pacific University was because of the OT program's dedication to promoting and advocating for occupational justice. I was immediately interested in learning more about occupational justice and how Pacific University emphasizes the importance of occupational rights, equity, and equality for all individuals in society. Another reason I chose Pacific was because of its genuine and naturally welcoming environment. From the very first OT open house I attended to the interview day, every individual I spoke to was eager and willing to answer my questions and share their experience as a member of Pacific University's community. I truly felt supported as an applicant and future student, which helped me imagine what it would be like as a member of the community.

Hobbies | My hobbies including drawing, making greeting cards, exploring different parts of the Portland area, walks around my neighborhood, creating music playlists, finding and trying gluten-free baked goods, and maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.

OT Interests | As I continue my journey here at Pacific, my occupational therapy interests continue to grow and evolve. Currently, some of my interests include mental health, occupational justice, women's health, oncology and palliative care, pediatrics, and hand therapy.

Undergrad Institution | Western Washington University. Sociology major,  Political Science minor

Hometown | Vancouver, Washington

One reason I chose Pacific | One of the main reasons I chose Pacific’s OT program was because of the emphasis the program put on bringing a holistic approach to the curriculum as well as a practicing OT. When I went to my interview, the staff and faculty were so welcoming, it really felt like a community and family that was there to support the success and growth of the students. I also was really drawn to the make-up of my cohort, we come from so many different backgrounds with different experiences. We have students that came to grad school straight from undergrad, some have been working for years and are making a career change, and others have been out of undergrad for a few years or more working and/or trying to figure out career paths. Our different experiences and paths we’ve taken to get to this point makes our conversations, both academic and personal, really wonderful to engage in and listen to.

Hobbies | Cooking new recipes, re-watching shows I’ve already watched through 5+ times, finding fun coffee shops, exploring different neighborhoods in Portland, playing with my dog, and talking about ways OT can help people to whoever will listen!

OT Interests | I have a lot of interests that pertain to OT and the role we can play in our communities, and my list of interests has only grown since beginning OT school! Some of my interests include occupational justice, women’s health, mental health community accessibility, community re-integration for formerly incarcerated people, adaptive devices and assistive technology, and palliative care.

Clubs/Organizations | Student Ambassadors Club, American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) member, Occupational Therapy Association of Oregon (OTAO) member, World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT) member, Society for Disability Studies (SDS) member, and Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) executive board member
