Current data indicates more than 1 in 2 U.S. adults have difficulty understanding basic health care information or instructions in order to actively and safely participate in their own self-care or the care of a loved one. Only 12% of U.S. adults are proficient in health literacy. Given the current data, it is critical that the next generation of health care providers be well versed in meeting the needs of their low health literate patients. Enter the Health Literacy eToolkit. The Health Literacy eToolkit equips busy faculty with teaching resources such as literature, videos and practical tools to support teaching health literacy concepts, knowledge and skills to health professions’ students.
