School of Pharmacy Faculty & Student Achievements at OSHP Annual Seminar

The 2015 Oregon Society of Health-System Pharmacists (OSHP) Annual Seminar was recently held in Sunriver, Ore., on April 17-19. The Pacific University School of Pharmacy was well represented by their students, faculty and alumni. It is with great pleasure that the School of Pharmacy was associated with numerous achievements throughout the weekend.

Congratulations to the students and faculty listed below! Their achievements and dedication to the profession of pharmacy largely contribute to the continued success of Pacific’s School of Pharmacy.

Students Achievements

Student Poster Award: 1st Prize: “Closing the Transitions of Care Gap: Development of a Standardized Form for Communicating Relevant Inpatient Information to Community Pharmacies” Rachel Givens, Katherine Viale, Crystal Ho, Jenna Milazzo, and Michael Millard

Student Poster Award: 2nd Prize: “Review of Oral Antithrombotic Therapy for Hospitalized Patients with Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation” Stephanie J. Cassidy, Emma Chu; Richard N. McLeod,; and Edward Hyde

Student Pharmacist of the Year Award was given to Elizabeth Levins in recognition of a pharmacy student who has made consistent, sustained and outstanding contributions toward student participation on both a local and state level.  Recipients demonstrate leadership abilities, advocacy for health system pharmacy, and devotion toward community service.

Faculty & Adjunct Achievements

Presidential Recognition Awards were given to Professors Ian Doyle and Mike Millard in recognition of the true spirit of volunteerism.

Distinguished Service Award was given to Dr. Ian Doyle to recognize and honor an individual who has made sustained contributions to professional pharmacy organizations and through the delivery of pharmacy services to the community.

Pharmacy Practitioner of the Year Award was given to Dr. Sarah Deines (from Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center in Hillsboro) in recognition of a pharmacist demonstrating excellence in the provision of pharmaceutical care or advancement of practice.
