What hobbies, sports, or interests light you up?

I love to sing in the choir at Pacific. I adore science and mathematics and like to stay up to date on current chemistry topics. I love to read and finish at least one book a week and to play various board/video games with friends.

What is your specialty as a tutor? What topic, problem, subject, or process do you most enjoy helping students to learn?

I love showing people the logic behind why something works. For example in mathematics, I find problems are always best solved when you understand the underlying logic behind whatever process you are doing.

Which of the CLASS 5 Keys – Respect, Inclusion, Growth, Support, and Pizzazz - resonates with you the most and how do you put it into practice in your work as a tutor?

The key that most resonates with me is growth. I find that no matter how much we learn and prosper, there are always ways in which we can grow. No matter how much of the material you comprehend, there is always the chance to grow your understanding of a subject. With this in mind, I intend to understand where a students areas of difficulty are, and cultivate the understanding needed to succeed.

What is your best advice for students on how to get the most out of their academic experience in college?

My advice is to talk to your professors. Go to their office hours, ask questions, make mistakes. It is all a part of learning, and they are here for you, and they want you to succeed.
