Samantha Slaughter, PsyD is the Director of Clinical Services for Pacific University’s Pacific Psychology & Comprehensive Health Clinic. Previously, she was the Director of Clinical Services and then the Director of Compliance at Fairfax Behavioral Health, the largest private psychiatric hospital in Washington State. Her career includes extensive experience in administration, clinical practice, and supervision. Dr. Slaughter created and ran a group private practice, contracted with the Washington State Psychological Association as their Director of Professional Affairs conducting lobbying and advocacy work, and was the Assistant Director for the Fremont Community Therapy Project with Laura Brown, PhD, ABPP. Her theoretical orientation combines existential and feminist psychotherapies, and she uses evidence-based practices such as EMDR, DBT, and ACT in her work with psychotherapy clients. Dr. Slaughter’s clinical expertise includes providing psychotherapy for the adult children of trauma survivors, dealing with the trauma of chronic illness (such as cancer), depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, and dissociation. Psychological assessment expertise includes assessment of adults for AD/HD and learning disabilities, fitness for duty evaluations, cognitive assessments, and diagnostic clarification evaluations. Dr. Slaughter received multiple honors and awards throughout her career, including the Karl F. Heiser APA Presidential Award for Advocacy in 2002 and most recently the Sustained Service Award from the Washington State Psychological Association in 2023. Dr. Slaughter is a graduate of APA’s Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology (2022).
