Announcing the Recipients of the 2018 Alumni Association Awards
We are honored to announce the recipients of the 2018 Alumni Association Awards. We invite you to join us to celebrate their accomplishments and service to the university at the Alumni Awards Dinner & Ceremony during Homecoming 2018 on Friday, Oct. 19 at 5 p.m.
Daintry Bartoldus ’88
Outstanding Alumni Award
At the age of 26, Daintry became the legal guardian of Alice Kamaka, a 71-year-old deaf woman with autism, cerebral palsy and developmental delays who had spent 48 years at an institution for the mentally challenged. In 2017 Daintry opened her home to a homeless family of five. With Daintry's help the family was able to achieve financial stability and move into a new home. With a master in social work, PhD and 33 years of experience, Daintry continues to be a leader in the field of social work and has earned great respect and praise for her dedication and leadership.
Steve Dustrude ’73
Outstanding Alumni Service Award
Steve has served on the Pacific University Alumni Board of Representatives as president and continually advocated for the Alumni Legacy Scholarship. Steve spent his career as an educator and speech language specialist at the Springfield Public School District. From 2000 until his retirement in 2006, Steve served as president of the Springfield Education Association. During his career he was very involved with the teachers’ union and the Oregon Education Association. In his active retirement, Steve volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, the Ford Family Foundation, and he often assists with Pacific University events in the Eugene area.
Peter Agbo PharmD ’09
Emerging Leader Award
In 2003, Peter came from Nigeria to study in the United States. In addition to his degree from Pacific University's School of Pharmacy, he has also earned a master of public health and a medical doctor degree. He is an advocate for the right to access medications and treatments for all patients. Peter uses his degrees to build interprofessional teams and provide volunteer medical care in impoverished rural communities around the world.
