Nearly 200 runners and walkers took part in the Forest Grove Lions Club's 12th annual 5K Run/Walk for Sight at Pacific University on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Among the participants were 46 College of Optometry students, and numerous faculty and staff in addition to alumni. An additional 15 Optometry students who also administer the college's Amigos Eye Care program volunteered to help ensure a smooth event.

Proceeds from the event benefit underserved residents of Washington County with eye care needs, as well as Amigos, which provides care internationally to those in need.

Additionally, Forest Grove Lions apportions some of the revenue to award a scholarship to a Pacific Optometry student, the bestowing of which will take place next month.
