Holiday Season Kicks Off With Plethora of Community Activities in Forest Grove This Weekend
Students and employees have many opportunities to partake in the holiday spirit this weekend through a number of community events in Forest Grove, including several on campus.
The fun begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday night with the Fall Orchestra Concert in McCready Hall on campus. On Saturday, the annual Holiday in the Grove fair begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues throughout the day. Presented by City Club of Forest Grove the event offers something for everyone with more than 30 activities at various downtown locations.
Also on Saturday, the Biology Department hosts its annual Biotopia open house from 1 to 4 p.m. in Strain Science Center, with several educational activities for all. Prospective students can also learn what the Pacific faculty and students are currently working on.
At 5 p.m., the city’s annual Holiday Light Parade on Main Street begins at Willamina Avenue and continues on Main to the gravel lot at 19th Avenue. This year’s theme is “Deck the Halls.” In preparation for the parade, be advised that Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic at 3 p.m.
The Pacific Music Department’s annual Holiday Concert concludes the day’s festivities at 7:30 p.m. in McCready Hall, and is sure to delight with traditional carols and melodies.
On Sunday at 10 a.m., Pacific’s Student Multicultural Center will hold a TEDXPacificUWomen conference in Jefferson Hall, room 223. Attendance reservations have reached capacity, but a waitlist has been established for those looking to attend should there be cancellations.
