In Memory: Marie Olive Farr, Former Secretary to Dean of College of Optometry

Marie Olive Farr, former secretary to Pacific’s Dean of College of Optometry, died Mar. 18, 2019, at age 100. Born and raised in Forest Grove, she married Byron Farr on June 18, 1938. They raised three children together. She worked at Pacific for 30 years, having served four different deans.

She received many awards, including Honorary Member of the THETA Chapter Phi Theta Upsilon International Optometry Fraternity. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Byron; son, Byron “Richard” II; parents, Ervin and Ethel Bailey; and sisters, Eleanor Stout and Marilyn Reynolds. She is survived by her son, Harry ’68 (and Beverly); daughter-in-law, Betty; five grandchildren; and an extended family.
