More Than 500 Students to Graduate on Saturday, May 18

Pacific University will hold its spring commencement exercises on Saturday, May 18 at Lincoln Park Stadium on the Forest Grove Campus.

Approximately 285 bachelor's degree candidates from the university's College of Arts & Sciences will take part in the undergraduate ceremony slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.

Retiring faculty member and longtime English Department chair Pauline Beard will give the keynote address.

Chloe Hallyburton, an exercise science major and Spanish minor from nearby Dayton, will address the Class of 2013 as valedictorian.

Graduate and professional programs students within Pacific's colleges of Education, Health Professions and Optometry will receive their signatory hoods and diplomas during an afternoon ceremony that begins at 2 p.m.

The School of Pharmacy has 91 candidates for its doctor of pharmacy degree (PharmD). 

Eighty-five (85) doctor of optometry candidates (OD) will be presented for degree by College of Optometry dean Jennifer Smythe.

School of Physical Therapy program director Richard Rutt will present 40 doctor or physical therapy (DPT) candidates for conferral.

The School of Occupational Therapy will have 26 candidates for degree, and the College of Education will have 10 candidates for a graduate degree.

Each ceremony will take place at Lincoln Park Stadium rain or shine. Attendees may also watch the ceremony via closed-circuit television inside the Stoller Center gymnasium adjacent to the stadium.
