Pharmacy Assistant Professor Deepa Rao Receives Research Funding

Deepa Rao, assistant professor within Pacific University's School of Pharmacy, has been granted a Medical Research Foundation of Oregon New Investigator Award in the amount of $40,000.

The grant will support of her research project, “Mitigation of doxorubicin induced cardiotoxicity by naturally occurring polyphenols delivered using polymeric nano-systems."

Funding will help support Rao's research to be conducted between June 1, 2013, and May 31, 2014.

The Medical Research Foundation supports promising biomedical exploration and the development of research careers in clinical investigation in Oregon through a program of competitively awarded research grants.

The foundation also presents awards to outstanding Oregon scientists and mentors.

Through the New Investigator Award program, the MRF supports promising new investigators in biomedical research.

Principal investigators must be at the beginning of an independent career with a faculty position at one of Oregon's colleges or universities.
