Ready to Teach
Becky Tengs ’08 chose to pursue her teaching license at Pacific University due to the university's outstanding reputation for teacher preparation.
“I had heard Pacific had a fantastic reputation education from other teachers in the area,” she said. “I’d heard from veteran teachers that Pacific graduates come to schools with almost acting like second-year teachers.
“The program really just prepares you for the day-to-day challenges of the classroom, as well as giving you hands-on experience working with kids on a regular basis.”
Tengs, now a teacher at the Forest Grove Community School, says she remains in touch with many of her faculty members at Pacific, who still provide support when she’s dealing with a new idea or challenge in her job.
“The faculty members help you find yourself as a teacher,” she said.
