School of Pharmacy Welcomes New Faculty

The Pacific University School of Pharmacy welcomes new members to its faculty, along with post-graduate residents and instructors, in 2017-2018.

New Faculty Members

Dr. Andrew Bzowyckyj, PharmD, BCPS, CDE
Associate Professor, School of Pharmacy

Dr. Bzowyckyj started his appointment as a tenure-track associate professor in pharmacy practice on Aug. 27, 2018. Andrew received his doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy in 2009, and subsequently completed the 24-month Pharmaceutical Care Leadership Residency program at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. Since 2011, he has been on faculty with the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy with an active clinical practice in the primary care and endocrinology clinics at Truman Medical Centers in downtown Kansas City, Mo.

Dr. Dana Roman, PharmD
Assistant Professor, School of Pharmacy

Assistant Professor Dana Roman received her PharmD at the University of Pittsburgh in 2010. She completed her post-graduate year 1 (PGY1) pharmacy practice residency at Cleveland Clinic Akron General in Akron, Ohio, in 2015 and a clinical toxicology fellowship at the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center in Tucson, Ariz., in 2018. 

Dr. Greg Tallman, PharmD
Assistant Professor, School of Pharmacy

Assistant Professor Greg Tallman received his doctor of pharmacy from Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2013. He completed a post-graduate year 1 pharmacy practice residency,and a post-graduate year 2 infectious diseases pharmacy residency at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, followed by a fellowship in infectious diseases epidemiology and outcomes research with Oregon State University/Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, Ore. 

Dr. Sharon Wu, PharmD
Assistant Professor, School of Pharmacy

Assistant Professor Sharon Wu received her bachelor of arts in molecular & cell biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and her PharmD from the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Wu completed her post-graduate year 1 residency training at UW Medicine in Seattle in 2017 and recently completed her post-graduate year 2 residency here at Pacific University.

PGY2 Residents

Trevor Laursen, PharmD
PGY2 Resident/Graduate Instructor

Dr. Trevor Laursen is completing a PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency. He received a bachelor of science in biology with a zoology emphasis from Southern Utah University located in Cedar City, Utah, and his PharmD from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He then completed post-graduate year 1 residency training at the Southern Arizona VA Healthcare System in Tucson, Ariz. 

Jessica Merlo, PharmD
PGY2 Resident/Graduate Instructor

Dr. Jessica Merlo is completing a PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency. She received a PharmD from St. Louis College of Pharmacy, and her post-graduate year 1 residency training at the West Texas VA Healthcare System in Big Spring, Texas. 

Academic and Ambulatory Care Fellowships

Nathan Hoover, PharmD
Fellow & Graduate Instructor  

Dr. Nathan Hoover is completing a post-graduate fellowship. He received his bachelor of science in speech & hearing science from Portland State University and his PharmD here at Pacific University. He completed his PGY1 residency training at the University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program in Casper, Wyo.

Jenn Stanislaw, PharmD
Fellow & Graduate InstructorDr. Jenn Stanislaw is completing a post-graduate fellowship. She received her bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla., then her PharmD here at Pacific University.

Academic and Research Fellowships

Mehrdad Alavi, PharmD, MHA
Fellow & Graduate Instructor

Dr. Mehrdad Alavi is completing a post-graduate fellowship after graduating from Pacific University School of Pharmacy in the Class of 2018. His fellowship is in pharmaceutical science research and academia. Mehrdad received his bachelor of arts in psychology from University of California, Los Angeles, and a master's in healthcare administration from Pacific University School of Healthcare Administration & Leadership.
