From 1941 to 1945, Bernard Brown '49, OD '50 wrote 246 letters from the front lines of World War II to Selma, the woman who would become his wife. Now, those letters are a new book, Dear Selma: A World War II Love Letter Romance, compiled by Brown and his daughter.

After Bernard Brown '49, OD '50 earned a Purple Heart and his way home from the European Theater in World War II, he pursued a lifelong career in optometry with a degree from Pacific University. Now, he's helping other veterans follow him into the profession.
Richard L. “Doc” Sickler ’50, OD ’51 died May 10, 2015, at age 88. At Pacific he lettered two years in basketball and also pitched for the baseball team.
Corrine V. Romero ’50 died Mar. 24, 2018, at age 89, after battling cancer.
