Explore Cochran Pond and Salmonberry Trail with the Bio Club
Join the Salmonberry Trail and Pacific University Biology Club on an informative hike in the Tillamook Forest! We will learn from Professor Joanne Odden the wonderful world of lichen and invertebrates along the future Salmonberry Trail!
We will meet at Reeher's Camp and carpool/caravan to Cochran Pond. From there, we can explore around the pond and take a 1.3 mile hike to the grand Reliance Trestle. Bring your handloop, binoculars, and eagerness to learn from students and biologists!
What to wear and bring: Please dress for the weather (rain jacket) and wear hiking boots (it might be slick in some spots so rain boots are not recommended). Bring a snack and plenty of water for yourself.
Getting to Reehers - Drive Highway 26 west (or east, depending on where you start) toward Timber Road (just past milepost 38). - Turn left (south) onto Timber Road, follow for 3 miles into the rural community of Timber. - Turn right (west) onto Cochran Road in Timber. - Reehers Camp is 2.2 miles down Cochran Road, a well-maintained gravel road.
