To wrap up Hispanic Heritage Month, join Pacific University in the MPR or online for an interview with Emilly Prado, author of Funeral for Flaca!

Pacific University’s MFA in Writing director, Scott Korb will interview Prado, a local Portland writer, DJ, educator and activist. Find out what inspires her, the importance of sharing her story as a Latina growing up in places that are predominately white, and finding a home with her work.

Following the interview, Emilly will lead a creative writing session from 5:30 to 6:30p.m. in the MPR and for those joining via Zoom.

Hosted by the Student Multicultural Center, Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Master of Fine Arts Program.

About Emilly Prado:

Emilly Prado is a writer, community organizer and DJ based in Portland, Oregon. When not writing or teaching, Prado moonlights as DJ Mami Miami with Noche Libre, the Latinx DJ collective she co-founded in 2017. Her debut essay collection, Funeral for Flaca, was selected as #YosiBookClub summer reading pick and has been called, “Utterly vulnerable, bold, and unique,” by Ms. Magazine. Funeral for Flaca is out now with Future Tense Books.
