Special Concert: The Half-Finished Heaven

Description

Join us for a unique event celebrating the liberal arts and exploring the importance of resilience in an uncertain world as Pacific's Spring 2026 performing arts schedule draws to a close! The Pacific University Music Department will present the world premiere of The Half-Finished Heaven, a song cycle based on the poetry of Swedish poet and Nobel laureate Tomas Tranströmer composed by Timmy Brown, an assistant professor of mathematics here at Pacific. Featuring baritone soloist Adrian Rosales, pianist Cessaries Galusha, and Pacific's choirs under the direction of Dr. Katy Green, the work draws inspiration from the challenges Tranströmer faced as he continued to write poetry after suffering a stroke in 1990.

In addition to the song cycle, the program will also feature some of Timmy's shorter pieces performed by special guests and will highlight interdisciplinary connections from around Pacific. We can't wait to see you on Saturday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. in McCready Hall, Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center, for the only performance of this special concert!
