Design, Storytelling & Publications

Paragraphs

Every day across our communities, Boxers are breaking ground in research, uplifting communities, and pursuing lives of purpose. The Office of Marketing & Communications captures and elevates these moments through strategic design, authentic storytelling, and dynamic visual media.

We align visual and written content across all platforms to build an emotional connection, drive student enrollment, inspire philanthropic support, and strengthen Pacific’s reputation.

Institutional Storytelling & Content Strategy

MarCom leads central storytelling for the university, focusing on narrative arcs that illustrate our core pillars: Belonging, Purpose, and Uplifting Communities — all under an umbrella theme of Opportunity, aligned to our university strategic plan.

  • Central Storytelling Channels: We curate and publish feature stories across Pacific magazine (twice a year in print and monthly in email), institutional social media channels,  events, and media outreach.
  • Earned & Owned Media Strategy: Major stories are developed intentionally to serve multiple purposes — a story might start as a web feature, expand into a print story, and be adapted for a fundraising appeal, admissions mailer, social video, and/or media pitch.
  • Submitting Story Ideas: We rely on our campus communities to help us find extraordinary stories of Pacific students, alumni, employees and friends. If your department, faculty, students, or alumni are engaged in groundbreaking work or community impact, share it with us at news@pacificu.edu!

Photography & Videography

MarCom manages creative direction and execution for high-level visual media.

  • Strategic Video Production: We concept, script and produce video assets, with an enrollment-first approach. We prioritize story-focused video shorts for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels in an effort to reach prospective students. We also produce institutional brand videos, recruitment and fundraising campaigns, and executive messages.
  • Brand Photography: Our team captures high-quality photography for institutional marketing, website hero images, recruitment materials, Pacific magazine features, and social media.
  • Digital Asset Management: Photo and video assets — including campus scenery, student life, academic settings, event highlights, and student/alumni testimonials — are housed in our central asset library, BrandFolder, for campus partner use.

Design & Publications

MarCom directly concepts, designs, and manages production for major institutional publications and high-visibility projects.

Our custom design work focuses on high-level initiatives with university-side impact:

  • Pacific Magazine: Our flagship biannual print publication reaching over 30,000 alumni, donors, families and friends.
  • Admissions & Enrollment Collateral: Mailers, fact sheets, financial aid materials, and campaigns for undergraduate and graduate admissions.
  • University Advancement & Philanthropic Campaigns: Campaign branding, case statements, donor impact reports, and signature event collateral.
  • Executive & Presidential Communications: Institutional reports, strategic plan documents, and university-wide announcements.
  • Signature Events: Commencement, Convocation, Homecoming and other high-visibility event materials.
