Optometry Community Outreach | EyeVan

Pacific University College of Optometry Community Outreach program provides vision screenings, examinations and education to the community.

We assist with access to glasses when funds are available. Vision screenings are performed at head start preschools, elementary schools, vineyards, migrant camps, health fairs and other locations. The mobile EyeVan is utilized for vision assessments throughout the community.

Pacific's outreach program participates in Project Homeless Connect, Veterans Stand Down, Bi-national Health Week, Conservation Resources Fair, Celebrate Hillsboro, Special Olympics, and other events where our services will be beneficial. We act as a triage of care for people who need a more extensive evaluation and assist in referrals.

We educate the community on health conditions that can affect their vision and make appropriate suggestions and referrals. There is collaboration with other health care providers at many events and this allows the community to have a more full scope evaluation in a nontraditional setting. We are always open to new ideas on how we can serve the community and enhance our outreach program.
