Boxer Brand: Marketing Priorities

The world of marketing & communications changes quickly, and so does our work in the MarCom office. Take a look at a few of our top priorities and learn what’s coming up at Pacific!

New Website

The pacificu.edu website runs on Drupal 7, a platform that is nearing its end of life. We’re in the process of moving to Drupal 10 (long-delayed between slow-downs on Drupal development during the COVID-19 pandemic and other technical challenges) and a more secure/stable cloud-based server. This update means a complete, ground-up rebuild and redesign of the website, which will bring new tools for visual content, cleaner menus and calls to action, and more search engine optimization. Web editors take note: We are decreasing editing access to pages to allow for accurate migration; look for details by email.

Boxer Blog

This summer, we launched an admissions-focused blog. The content on the blog is written specifically to increase search engine optimization and answer questions prospective students might ask in their search for an academic home. The blog has moved Pacific's website into Page 1 results on Google for more than 30 strategic keywords to date.

Advertising Expansion

Have you seen more Pacific University presence in your community? Thanks to university investment in enrollment marketing, we have been able to expand brand advertising for Pacific’s programs. You may not see the increase in digital advertising, since that’s strategically targeted to prospective students, but you can find banners and signs for Pacific at area high schools, an upcoming ad in the Portland Trailblazers season program, and more!

Brand Messaging

Pacific has partnered with Ologie, an enrollment marketing strategy firm, to help shape and test core messages for university advertising and branding. When complete, this will bring us cohesive and aligned messages to better marketing who we are as a university — and as a collection of programs within that university. We’ve greatly appreciated all of the input from employees, students, alumni and friends, and we’ve also gained great insights from external brand surveys measuring awareness of Pacific among prospective students. Look for updates in the coming months!
